Two final year students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo state lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred in Osun state,
The accident also claimed the life of the driver of the 18-seater bus that caught fire in Ojutu area of Ilobu local government area, Irepodun in Osun state.
Witnesses in the area said that the Mazda bus burst into flames at high speed, killing the three victims instantly while injuring five others with various burns.
Agnes Ogungbemi, the Osun Division Commander of the Federal Road Safety Agency, confirmed the incident on Thursday. She said it was due to speed and loss of control.
She continued by saying that while some of the injured were taken to the Uniosun Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, others were taken to a private hospital in the town.
She continued by saying that the police recovered the three cell phones that were found at the scene.
Henry Benamaisia, the head of the department, urged motorists to be careful on public roads to prevent unnecessary deaths.
