The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards brought out the best and boldest in fashion, with celebrities stepping out at the Temperance Center in Newark, NJ, September 12, dressed to turn heads.
Take Cat Doja, who turned the red carpet into a personal runway in a web-inspired look that complimented her upcoming album Scarlet, in which two spiders are covered. Always one to push the boundaries, the “Paint the Town Red” rapper only wore a tan G-string underneath the dress, leaving much to the imagination as she posed for photos .
At the same time, Saweetie she rocked a frock with pink sequins embellished with two large studs on her neck and waist.
And the competition at this year’s event is as strong as the fashion. After all, Taylor Swift leads the pack of nominees with a whopping 11 nods – including nominations for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year – while SZA following closely behind with eight.
Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Smith and Kim Petras also up for several moons, with Shakira slated to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and Diddy honored with a Global Image Award. (See the full list of nominees here.)
