What happened to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows?

Earlier on Wednesday, it was discovered that the hack and slash game reappeared on the Steam store as being available for purchase for $14.99. A little less than an hour later, however, the game was listed again. It can no longer be purchased, as the game’s Steam page no longer has that option.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was first released in 2013 by developer Red Fly Studio and Activision. The game featured a four-player online mode and two-player offline co-op, and saw players take control of the iconic group of turtles as they try to stop various villains from the show, which included the Foot Clan, the Purple Dragons, Baxter Stockman. , and Kraang.

On January 4, 2017, the game was officially pulled from platforms after Activision’s hold on the TMNT license ended. Activision originally held the TMNT franchise starting in 2012 and released five games based on the franchise between 2013 and 2016.

If Activision is looking to get back into the Turtles game, there’s never been a better time – a Seth Rogen-penned reboot, Mutant suppression, hitting theaters this August. There is also a darker TMNT game inspired by the recent God of War games in developmnet.
