‘I remember the doubt’

State of Happiness author Mette M. Bolstad previously spoke to the Nordisk Film & TV Fund and was asked about the impact of the oil discovery and if he remembers how it felt at the time:

“I was very young then but I remember a long period of suspicion. Although we found oil, people didn’t believe it would be possible to make money from it. At that time my family lived very frugally; The discovery of oil helped improve our way of life.”

He added: “Norwegians today in the 60s-80s feel that their country’s success story is linked to the oil boom that they caused.”
