On May 24, 2022, Jennie and V of BTS (aka Kim Taehyung) were thrust into the spotlight when photos were showed the pair driving together on Jeju Island posted on a follower’s Instagram Story and they started circulating. It was not clear, however, whether the pictures were real or not. YG Entertainment kind of (but barely) addressed the rumors in a statement (via Soompi), saying, “We have nothing to say.”
In late August 2022, more photos surfaced showing Jennie and V hanging out together, including photos of Jennie hanging out while V was getting his hair done styled and the couple standing in front of a mirror looking comfortable. Adding fuel to the fire, in October, YG released a statement that suggested they were starting an investigation into who was leaking her photos. “We have officially asked the police to investigate who first circulated Blackpink Jennie’s personal photos,” YG said in a statement in October 2022 (via Rolling Stone). “We have refrained from mentioning the matter or making an official statement to minimize any further damage. However, indiscriminate rumours, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and violations of personal life are caused by these private pictures. a – now announcing that we will take legal action and rectify the situation.”
While rumors about the couple died down over the next few months when pictures stopped leaking, there was a new surge in speculation in May 2022 when Jennie and V were filmed walking hand in hand in Paris on what looked like a date. Neither YG nor V’s label, HYBE, directly addressed the latest dating rumors, instead telling Sports Seoul, “We don’t know because it’s artists’ private lives .
Although the relationship between Jennie and V has not yet been officially confirmed, as none of the idol groups have denied the dating rumors clearly (as they did when there were rumors about their artists definitely fake in the past), many fans are now sure Jennie and V is, of course, an item.
