Arkansas leads Texas A&M 38-25 in SEC Championship
Arkansas leads Texas A&M 38-25 at halftime in the SEC Tournament semifinals behind hot shooting and a strong defensive performance. Jordan Walsh hit a three at the buzzer to give the Razorbacks their 13-point lead.
After hitting the game-winning baseline jumper to lift the Razorbacks over Auburn last night, Nick Smith Jr. continued. with his hot streak against the Aggies – knocking down two back-to-back 3-pointers to start things off. Smith has yet to catch a cold as he has 13 of Arkansas’ 31 first-half points.
Arkansas went up by as many as 12 in the first half before the Aggies went on a run. To the Razorbacks’ credit they shut down the Aggies and were able to extend their lead again before the half.
Texas A&M is not shooting well but they are having success on the glass. They are outrebounding Arkansas 19-11 in total rebounds and 11-3 on the offensive glass.
The Razorbacks own the Aggies in the paint on the defensive end as they finish the first half with NINE blocked shots. Texas A&M has just been able to block one Arkansas shot through the first 20 minutes.
Texas A&M’s leading scorer so far is Tyrece Radford who has 8 points and Dexter Dennis who only has 5 points on 2-7 shooting.
Nick Smith Jr. led the Hogs with 13 points on 5-10 shooting (2-4 on 3-pointers). Anthony Black fills the stat sheet again with 7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 blocked shots.
