Celebrities react to Jeremy Renner’s snow plow accident
Jeremy Renner is recovering from surgery after a snow accident in Nevada on New Year’s Day. A spokesperson for the 51-year-old actor confirmed to CNN that Renner suffered “brutal chest injuries and orthopedic injuries” and was in the intensive care unit in “critical but stable condition” Monday night. Although Renner’s representatives did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment, according to CNN, the Avengers star has undergone two surgeries so far.
Renner updated fans on his condition on Tuesday, posting a photo from his hospital bed on Instagram. “Thank you all for your kind words. 🙏,” he said. “I’m too sad now to write. But I love you all.”
Renner was hospitalized Sunday morning after the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal wound in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, NV, which required him to be taken to a nearby hospital. According to a press release, Renner was the only party involved in the incident, and the Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
As new details emerge about Renner’s terrifying accident, stars such as Mark Ruffalo, Josh Gad and James Gunn have all paid tribute to the actor on social media. “Prayers up for our brother @jeremyrenner on a full and speedy recovery,” Ruffalo posted on his Instagram Stories on Monday.
In a statement to People, Renner’s rep said, “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the amazing doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, the Washoe County Sheriff, the Mayor of Reno City Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also overwhelmed and appreciate the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
