In a new interview with Allure, the 48-year-old Academy Award-winning actor reflected on aging in the public eye, while also discussing whether working professionally do anything against her.
“My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and getting older,” Charlize told Allure. “People think I’ve had a facelift.”
“They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m just getting older! That doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. It just happens.'”
But just because Charlize hasn’t gone under the knife, that doesn’t mean she shames anyone who has gone down that path. In fact, she believes that society needs to be a little more “sympathetic” to every woman’s aging journey.
“I’ve always had problems because men are kind of like fine wine and women are like cut flowers,” Charlize said of the double standards women face. “I despise that concept and I want to fight against it.”
“But I also think that women want to age in a way that feels right to them. We need to be a little more compassionate about how we all go about our journey.”
But there’s one thing about getting older that Charlize wishes she could change: her body’s loss of flexibility and mobility.
“Apart from my face, I wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can throw against the wall and not get hurt tomorrow,” said Charlize. return to the gym , I can’t walk.”
