A Fulani group known as Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has asked Ondo State Governor, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to compensate the families of Fulani herdsmen who were allegedly attacked after they were accused of masterminding the Owo church massacre. Recall that on June 5, 2022, an ugly incident took place at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo in which no fewer than 40 worshipers died, while others were injured at several levels.
Shortly after the incident, many pointed the finger of blame at Fulani herdsmen in the area leading to retaliatory attacks on Fulani communities in the area. However, after the suspects behind the incident were apprehended a few days ago, the Chairman of KACRAN, Khalil Muhammad Bello, commended the Security 50 intellectuals for a job well done.
Addressing the development, Khalil Muhammad Bello urged the Ondo State governor to compensate the families of the Fulani herdsmen who were attacked in retaliation following allegations that he was allegedly behind the attack. He, however, said none of the arrested suspects were Fulani herdsmen, adding that Fulani herdsmen are law-abiding citizens.
