After 32 seasons Dancing With The Stars, five couples competed in the final. Last week’s semi-finals had a shocking turn of events when the Marvel actress Xochtil Gomez and Vanderpump Rules a star Ariana Madix were saved from elimination after receiving the lowest number of votes on the night. How I Met Your Mother alum Hanigan and her dance partner Sasha Farber those who did it first in the freedom circuit, and they returned again to the salsa. After receiving a few notes from Carrie Ann Inaba during their rehearsal, Hanigan finally got to show more of her sensual side and showed a lot of her progress during her first performance (even taking Harry Jowsey to tears). Charlie D’Amelio, and her dance partner Mark Ballas, both winners of the previous season of DWTS, returned to the dance floor a year after receiving the mirror ball. They danced sharply to Rick James“Give Me a Child.” After the number was over, D’Amelio shared:

“I feel like this is one of the best decisions, coming on this show.”

The old rivals weren’t the only ones who came back for the season finale. After revisiting dance styles in the elimination round, the Season 32 finalists had a chance to hone their strengths in the freestyle round. Lawson returned to the dance floor with a cheerleader-focused routine Destiny’s Child, and the judges and live audience were delighted with the lifts and cartwheels. The dance couple got the first perfect score in the second round of the final, and the second was Mgraz with a 1920s-style dance to “Happy” by C2C. During the rehearsals, the Grammy winner said that the song will represent his new love for dance and the confidence he gained during the competition. Although his performance was upbeat, Madix also brought down the house with perfect scores after her dance Beyonceand “Ruith an Saoghal (Girls)” / “Level Up” by Ciara. Judge Bruno Tonioli even said she was at the “top of her game and hot as hell”. Hanigan was the only one who did not get a perfect score in this round, but the feedback and comments from the audience showed the progress the actress showed during the competition. . The final freestyle performance came from Gomez, who incorporated her Latina roots in a dance number to District 78’s “Que Calor.”

Following the death of former judge and ballroom dancer Len Goodman on April 22, 2023, his legacy will live on in the name of the mirror ball from this season forward. Xotchil Gomez and Val Chmerkovski are the first DWTS couples to win the award under Goodman’s name. This was Chmerkovski’s third win as a pro on the reality show and during rehearsals, he shared how working with Gomez was different for him as a parent.

In an interview with Collider’s own Sheridan SingletonThe Marvel actress said she grew up watching the show with her grandmother:

“Well, it’s so crazy. I really like the show. I used to watch it with my grandma all the time. And so it’s funny to see, you know, some people like Val and Peta; seeing all these people I’ve looked at the screen, [then] seeing them in real life, it’s almost like, in my own way, seeing a famous person, but he’s not an actor. He’s a ballroom dancer, which I think is funny.”

Before receiving the award, many Latino actors praised Gomez’s efforts to represent the community on DWTS. They were some of the names that appeared in the video before the release Barbieand America Ferrera, Cobra Kaiand Xolo Maridueñaand The Real Desperate Housewives alum Eva Longoria.

Jason Mraz and Daniela Karagach took second place, after the singer performed a few minutes before the big reveal. He sang one of his hits “I Feel Like Dancing”, while the pros performed a dance number. Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov took third place, and this was the pro’s first final as part of the competition. Charity Lawson and Alyson Hanigan, landed fourth and fifth.
