Peacock has officially ordered Season 2 of Twisted Metal TV show, based on the popular video game franchise

When the TV series is based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal debuted on Peacock’s streaming service back in July, quickly becoming one of Peacock’s top five original series, garnering up to 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the first sight of the climber’s “highest”. So it’s no surprise to hear that the show has been renewed, with Peacock ordering a season 2. Star/executive producer Anthony Mackie broke the news last night at The Game Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and it was confirmed by a promo video, which you can see at the bottom of this article.

Based on original capture by Deadpool and Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, this adaptation of the Twisted Metal licensing based on a motor-mouthed outsider who gets a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a secret package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a drift-happy car thief, he faces off against ruthless marketers driving wrecking vehicles and other dangers on the open road, including a mischievous clown who ‘ driving a very familiar ice cream truck..

Anthony Mackie (The Hawk and the Winter Soldier) appears in the series as John Doe, “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to realize his desire to find community, but only if he can survive a vicious vehicle fight. ” Neve Campbell (Scream) plays a character named Raven, Thomas Haden Church (Wings) is Agent Stone, “a cold and ruthless post-apocalyptic highway patrolman who rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist, prosecuting even the smallest crimes by the harshest judgments. Agent Stone will stop at nothing to restore law and order to the Divided States of America, and will kill anyone in his path who opposes his power”; and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn nine-nine) is a silent, “vicious thief, a bad car that operates on instinct alone – you couldn’t stop her any more than a pinhole could stop a volcano. Coming from a community that oppressed her into silence, Quiet’s desire is to find her place in this dark, chaotic world. But when she is fueled by her need for revenge, Quiet forms an unlikely, antagonistic bond with John Doe”.

Also in the cast is Mike Mitchell (War tomorrow) and Tahj Vaughans (P-valley) as friends Stu and Mike, “the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern of this world, and together they often find themselves more followers than fighters”; Lou Beatty Jr. (A Million Little Things) as Tommy, “a sadistic cartographer and weatherman familiar with the dangers of the Wild Midwest”; and Richard Cabral (Mayans MC) as Quiet Loud’s overprotective brother. AEW wrestler Joe Seanoa, aka Samoa Joe, plays the iconic video game character Sweet Tooth, starring Will Arnett (Arrested development) provides the character’s voice.

Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith is a showrunner. The executive team of Mackie, Smith, Arnett, Reese, and Wernick will represent the Twisted Metal series with director Kitao Sakurai and Marc Forman of Electric Avenue, Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment, Peter Principato of Artists First, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, and Hermen Hulst, CEO of PlayStation Studios. The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Smith provided the date with the following statement: “I have to give a Sweet Tooth-sized thank you to our amazing fans – I read every comment and was blown away by the love, support and rabid enthusiasm for a paper bag. We are very grateful to be able to continue the story of John Doe, Quiet, and Sweet Tooth as they face off against familiar faces and grim new foes in the long awaited Twisted Metal tournament. The mixtape is done, and I’m super excited to get back on the road with our great cast and crew.
