Drake recently gave a speech at the Nike Maxim Awards where he took a handful of digs at New Balance, Tyga, and Kanye West.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Drake joked about New Balance at the Nike Maxim Awards

Drake is many things, however, being a stand-up comedian may not be his specialty.

The Boy took the stage at Nike HQ on Thursday, September 8 as he hosted the Nike Maxim Awards. The event was held in Beaverton, Oregon.

However, it seems his off-hand comment about Nike’s age didn’t get the laughs it deserved.

‘Nike is 50 years old,’ Drake told the crowd. Nike is so old it’s wearing New Balance.’

The audience on the other hand screamed and responded poorly.

Nevertheless, Drake wasn’t deterred as he attempted another joke.

He noted, ‘I’ll grab a quick drink.’

The 35-year-old rap star added, ‘Nike turns 50 so LeBron is going to try and get you to play for the Lakers this year.’

Plus, he added, ‘this is the year you’re going to walk into a restaurant and see Nike having red wine with Jared Dudley and Carmelo Anthony.’

Aside from that, Drake made some lighthearted jokes about the supply chain issues at Nike.

Drake pokes fun at Tyga during his monologue

Drake landed some punchlines on a number of high-profile names, including Adidas and Kanye West, during his speech at the Nike Maxim Awards.

However, fans noticed that he also poked Tyga during his speech.

‘When you put things in perspective,’ the Canadian rapper quipped. Adidas has Kanye, I think.’

Moreover, this statement succeeded in drawing laughter from the audience at the grand festival.

Still, Drake added, ‘Nike, we’ve got LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Giannis. [Antetokounmpo], Michael Jordan. The greatest creative mind of all time, Virgil Abloh, rest in peace. We have Cristiano Ronaldo.’

He added, ‘We have Serena Williams. We have a tiger [Woods]. And I’m sure Reebok has Tyga, so we’re good.’

In case you didn’t know, the One Dance hitmaker has a long-running beef with Tyga. This is from a 2014 interview with the 32-year-old rapper.

At the time, the Flavor singer said, ‘I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just a liar to me.’

Plus, he added, ‘we were brought together and it was like we were building a relationship together.’
