Elon Musk weighs in on a rumor that The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri could replace Depp
Rumors have been flying about Johnny Depp being replaced in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and people (including Elon Musk) are not happy.
Earlier this week, there was a controversial rumor that it was The bearRising star Ayo Edebiri could replace Johnny Depp as the sixth lead Pirates of the Caribbean film. A famous scooper Daniel Richtman the news reported, but he has since clarified the first post, writing, “It’s not true, there’s no ‘Replacing Depp’ or anything like that. She’s just the “Type” they’re looking for the lead in one of the planned spinoffs (not the Margot Robbie one).
However, fans have been wondering why Disney seems to be moving forward without Johnny Depp, given how popular the franchise has been at this point. (to the tune of $4.5 billion). There is only one such follower but Elon Musk, who took to X, writes, in the responses to one of the tweets revealing this information, “Disney is boring.”
In fact, it is similar to the 6th Pirates of the Caribbean film has become a hot topic for many, especially since Johnny Depp has yet to have a prominent role since the outcome of the infamous Depp v Heard lawsuit. Many feel that innocence should be pulled back to the top of the careers pile. Depp, in the past, has said that he was not interested in reprising the role. However, franchise representative Jerry Bruckheimer has gone on to say that he hopes Depp will someday return and work with him again. One wonders if Disney feels the same way, being notoriously risk-averse, to the point that many feel their films have lost their way and are worrying too much about messages rather than pure entertainment.
