Philadelphia native Amir Staten is not only going to his favorite college, Morehouse College, but he’s doing so on a full-ride academic scholarship, The Shadow Room it is only learned.
In an exclusive clip obtained by The Shade Room, the upcoming Morehouse Man is speechless as he learns that he just received a 4-year Bonner Scholars Scholarship. Wiping tears from his eyes, the teenager said to his mother,
You don’t have to pay for college.
In addition to the full-ride scholarship, Staten received another $20,000 in academic funds.

His mother said Germantown Friends High School will major in sociology because Blacks are underrepresented in the field.
Amir goes viral after accepting Morehouse
If you remember, Amir Staten went viral in February to celebrate his acceptance letter to the HBCU. In the water, he jumped with joy and shouted, “LEET’S GO!”
In an interview with CBS News, Amir said:
It’s okay to go to college. It’s good to go to college, Amir Staten said. Picking up a book is cool, and getting a degree is cool. You don’t have to be stuck in the streets.
Why Morehouse?
Amir’s mother said the senior had to leave Philadelphia because he is dangerous.
I had a couple of mixed feelings because you know it’s going out, Karlynne Staten said.
He’s going out of Philly. I love Philly to death but it’s not safe for him.
