Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow found a new writer in Ana Nogueira, who was hired to write the upcoming DC movie.

THR reports that DC has tapped a writer for the sequel Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film. Ana Nogueira has closed a deal to write the film, and this is the second time she has been hired to write Supergirl film.

Ana Nogueira was hired to write a Supergirl movie in 2022 that would have been the result The Flash. Sasha Calle would have been the main part of the project, reprising the character she was in The Flash. Once James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, it was clear that project was scrapped, but they liked Nogueira’s work enough to bring her back for the new film.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow It is expected to be based on the comic book mini-series of the same name written by Tom King. “Kara Zor-El has seen great events over the years, but she now finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who didn’t need her. Why was it all? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman fame,” reads the comic book’s official synopsis. “Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl is wanted for a sinister mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl won’t help her, she will, no matter the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child are heading out into space on a journey that will shake them to the core.

Superman is a boy who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, where as Supergirl in this story, she is a character raised on a piece of Krypton,” Gunn explained when the project was first announced. “She saw everyone around her die in some horrible way, so she is a much more shocking character.

Nogueira is a playwright and actress best known for her roles on The Vampire Diaries, The Black List, Michael J. Fox Show, Hightownand more. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as part of the first chapter of the DCU, which will also include Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thingand more.
