“When I first came out rapping, I was trying to sound like a little girl. I was saying some hard s**t, but only in a little girly-a*s voice. I was trying to change my sound because I have a deeper natural voice. I was a bit shy, because I wanted to be like a girl. “

When 2021 came around, however, GloRilla “changed her sound” and allowed her voice to “get deeper and deeper” on her tracks.

“That’s when I first changed my sound. That’s the year my voice started getting deeper and deeper.”

This sentiment echoes the statement she gave on the matter earlier. In a January 2023 sit-down with The Cut, Glo recalled that her voice came out “squeaky” when she tried to “sound like a girl” while starting out in the rap game.

After some friends informed her about this, GloRilla decided, “Let me emphasize what I already look like, just add a little more sauce.”

Although Glo is all about living in the moment and enjoying the fruits of her labor, she nevertheless gives fans a preview of what to expect on the her next project.

Especially, since she was “on [her] hood s**t” as she recorded it Anyway, Life is great… EP, she plans to use “different sounds” in her upcoming album. However, she reassures fans that she is still going to be “still [be] raw and uncut.”

“Here [new album] it will still be mine, still raw and uncut. But just knowing what it’s like to be here and [experimenting with] different sounds. Because I was hooded all the time.”

GloRilla said, “This time, it’s not just me being sorry. I got a couple of different sounds coming on this one.”
