Grantchester fans excited as season 8 behind the scenes photo emerges

Robson Green has answered the prayers of Grantchester fans when he appeared in a behind-the-scenes snapshot from the set.

The hit British crime drama is set to return for another terrifying season on ITV in the UK and Masterpiece PBS for the USA.

The news that filming for the eighth season has begun comes just days before the penultimate episode airs in the US (August 14).

DI Geordie Keating (Green) and Tom Brittney (Reverend Will Davenport) can’t seem to wait to get started as they reunite.

Other Grantchester cases returning for season 8 include Charlotte Ritchie as Bonnie and Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs C. It also stars Al Weaver as Leonard Finch and Oliver Dimmesdale as Daniel Marlowe. Fans will also see Casey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating as well as Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman.

Not only that, but special guest stars include Jeff Rawley, Jemima Rooper and Sean Dingwall, writes TV Insider.

But Reverend Will is willing to watch his world crumble – what will that mean for his faith?

In a teaser synopsis, it reads: “He’s always preached the word of a merciful God – but how can he now when his despair is leading him to a dangerous downward spiral?”

‘Murder is always around the corner’

We can’t forget the plot of the show, but it looks like Geordie will see some cracks in this life too.

The synopsis adds: “As Mrs. C, Leonard, Jack and Daniel come together around the neighborhood, both Will and Jordy find themselves in unfamiliar, emotional waters, and murder is always around the corner.”

But Will and Geordie will be tested ‘to the limit’ as they “search for trust, forgiveness and redemption”.

Then there are the “Invisible Women” teasers and the problems they cause for Leonard’s new business.

Fans are excited for the new episode. One said: “Great news! We all love this family’s Grantchester so thank you so much for refurbishing it”.

A second added: “Amazing news… love Grantchester. Can’t wait to see it.

“It’s great to be back GrantchesterGreen said in a statement. “A series that only gets better with age. Everyone involved is at the top of their game and it’s a privilege to be a part of this incredibly charming, engaging, dark and compelling show.”

Britney added, “I’m really excited that we’re moving forward with another series. Grantchester And I got to play a character I love so much. It is an absolute honor to be a part of such a beloved show, now in its eighth series.”

Adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie, the show has been a hit across the Atlantic in the UK and US, with Daisy Cullum adapting the stories for TV.

A release date for Grantchester Season 8 has yet to be announced – but keep your eyes peeled.
