‘Guardians Vol. 3’ The first Reviews say it’s Goodbye
Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye to Guardians of the Galaxy.
Writer/director James Gunn has promised that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 farewell to this version of the Marvel team. (And Gunn himself is saying goodbye too; he’s gone to run DC and make a Superman movie.) Before joining the prestigious competition, Gunn wrote and directed this third one. Guardians, reuniting Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, Nebula, Kraglin, and Groot for an epic battle with the High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji), a mad genius who plans – what other? – reshaping the universe in its own image.
So do this Guardians live up to the previous two? In general, first impressions of the films from early screenings have been very positive, with some calling it the best Marvel film in years. (Although the competition is recent, it’s not necessarily the biggest compliment in the world.) However, most comments have a ton of praise for the film and Gunn’s work. A few, however, said it was “uneven” and the weakest film in the series. Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, partly due to a rather bland villain.
