Chidera Kenneth Ogwuru, a student of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, died in a drowning accident in Umuchime River in Ossah Ibeku, Umuahia Local Government Area, Abia State.
The sad incident happened when the young boy was swimming with friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
Information received indicates that the accident occurred when Chidera and his friends entered the water without being aware of the depth and flow of the river.
Narrating the incident, Comrade Ugorji Kalu said that the young man’s ignorance of the condition of the river caused the tragic outcome.
It wasn’t until his companions discovered that Chidera was drowning that it became clear that he was in trouble; however, they were unsuccessful in their efforts to save him as it was already too late.
Chidera Kenneth Ogwuru was a student and the only child of his parents. He was born in Uzuakoli, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
