How some generals threatened me at CIA – Wike, #Generals #Threatened #CIA #Wike EODBA BlogHere is the latest breaking news and trending broadcast for you today: :
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said some retired army generals in the country have threatened to deal with him using their CIA contacts if he does not do their bidding.
The US intelligence agency known as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is responsible for receiving, processing and analyzing information related to national security from around the world, primarily using human intelligence (HUMINT) and conducting covert operations.
On Wednesday, Wike spoke in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, and expressed his inability to use the connections of those retired generals to stop the Boko Haram insurgency.
At Igwurit, Rivers, the governor flagged off the network of internal roads.
“Some people threatened that they can deal with us because they are ex-generals who have ties to the CIA in America. Listen, never mind, I said. Why don’t you use the American CIA to fight Boko Haram if you are related to them? Will you put it on me? Why not take advantage of your connections with the CIA – whom you know as a former general – to solve the problem of Nigerian pressure?
You intend to threaten me. Who are you to make me come and obey you? I deny it. I will follow the will of Nigerians, who feel that their progeny cannot replace them, not the will of the electorate.
They should not compete with other children. I will not pass it. So let us all get ready for the day that Rivers State will decide.
According to Wike, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is doomed if President Muhammadu Buhari does not break his promise to refrain from interfering in the 2023 general elections.
Governor Wike said such firmness shows President Buhari’s commitment to leave a lasting legacy of free and fair elections.
I appreciate the President’s desire to leave a legacy of free and fair elections.
Governor Wike claimed that the Nigerian Army was used by the APC-led Federal Government through the outgoing Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi to allegedly rig the 2019 general elections in Rivers State.
The governor added that he did not believe that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would fulfill its pledge to conduct better elections.
“INEC is my issue; I don’t know if they will fulfill their promises. They are doing promising things right now. I’m not sure they’ll stick with it. I will be very happy if INEC honors its commitment to conduct good elections in Nigeria. Everyone can clearly see that there is no election in Abuja. The voters here are the people.
