The US Open Cup will be decided on Wednesday when the Dynamo Houston and Between Miami will meet at DRV PNK Stadium for the championship. While the Herons hope to end a one-month trophy drought, Houston finally picked up silverware in 2018 when they beat Philadelphia Union in the US Open Cup final.

Both teams have gone through major improvements this season so this should be a very interesting affair. The appointment of Ben Olsen as manager for the Dynamo has boosted the team’s performance, while Miami has undergone a major overhaul. With the addition of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba with Tata Martino taking over as the club’s coach, their development has been rapid this season. However, as they head into the final, there are some concerns as to whether Messi will be fully fit to go.

Here are our stories, how to watch the match and more:

How to look

Stories

Between Miami: After Messi and Scotland withdrew from their last MLS match against FC Toronto, the Herons will face that to see if the two will fit. While Martino has played down things saying the injury is a result of fatigue, there is always the chance it could be something more serious. Having already qualified for the Concacaf Champions Cup, there is not much to lose in the game for Miami but when there is an opportunity to add more silverware, it is something a team will give their all on the line to secure it.

Houston Dynamo: While the Dynamo have relied on their midfield of Hector Herrera and Adalberto Carrasquilla, Amine Bassi goals have been central to what the team does well. Of course with a lower body injury, if Bassi can’t go, he could see Corey Baird lead the line against the Herons.

Prediction

The Herons have plenty of players who can look up in key moments, and with Messi, they have enough in a tight one. Select: Inter Miami 2, Houston Dynamo 2 (Inter Miami won on penalties, 5-4)
