Before David Corenswet was cast as the Man of Steel in James Gunn Superman: Legacyone name raised by followers was Jacob Elordi.

While speaking to GQ, Jacob Elordi said that he received an offer to test for the role of Superman but he turned it down. “Well, they asked me to read for Superman,” he said. “That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.” It’s strange to hear someone refer to the Superman story as too dark, but it’s not clear what Elordi would have known about the film.

It’s not just Superman, because Jacob Elordi doesn’t like appearing in any kind of superhero movie. “Not particularly, no. I’ve always been told to say a round answer or my agent will get mad. ‘Anything can happen!’” he said. “And obviously anything can happen, but at this stage in my life, I don’t see myself being interested in that. I like to do what I would watch, and I get very insecure watching these movies.

The actor also took the opportunity to slam The Kissing Cottage trilogy, which helped make him a star, calling them “silly” and that it “he didn’t want to do those movies.“This has led some to call the actor unhappy for being unhappy with the opportunities he’s been given. “How rude do you care about your product?” said Elordi. “But not caring, and knowingly feeding people, knowing that you are making money off of people’s time, which is literally the most valuable thing they have. How is that cool?

James Gunn writes and directs Superman: Legacyand has promised that the tone of the film will be different from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
