I hope you’ve brought your wish because it’s the stars of the A24 The Iron Stone cooking up some wild treats Entertainment every week as part of a comprehensive overview of coverage. The Sean Durkin-directed wrestling drama stars Jeremy Allen White, Zac Efron, and Harris Dickinson as the Von Erich brothers, an unlikely trio in the highly competitive world of professional wrestling. EW recently teamed up with the triumvirate for a gorgeous cover shoot that’s sure to have you craving cookies and smelling the sweat of a hard day’s work.
Here is the official synopsis for The Iron Stone:
The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the highly competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their father and dominant coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.
Talking to EW posing for the cover shoot, the trio opened up about their off-screen chemistry and training for The Iron Stone.
“We have really funny pictures on our iPhone of seeing our wrestling for the first time,” Efron says of the group’s early training days.
“I was like, ‘Oh, ‘that is what does it look like,'” White says. “I have some work to do.” White adds with a fake smile across his lips. “I have some work to do.”
During filming The Iron Stone, White says the trio felt a lot of pressure to perform for the cameras. Wrestling fans can be very intense, and they will know if you don’t put in the work. Bringing the iconic moves of the Von Erich family to life was a challenge. However, insecurity turned to confidence as the trio worked with pro wrestling trainer Chavo Guerrero Jr. to draw all aspects of their achievements.
“Leading up to those wrestling streaks, that’s probably when I felt the most insecure,” White says. “It takes such confidence and skill to walk into a ring like that and play. “
“I felt like I was complaining a lot during the process, but it hurt!” Dickinson reveals that he introduced Von Erichs signature, the Iron Claw. “It’s harder when you can’t actually squeeze someone’s head, so you have to create the impression that you’re giving pain by just squeezing your hand and shaking it. After a while, your arms grow up, and you feel stupid, like ‘My arm! I can’t do this anymore!’”
As far as weightlifting goes, White is a great guy to have on your team. His show, The bear, was recently renewed for a third season on FX, and foodies are thrilled to try to please the actress who plays Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in the series. White’s fame won the free meals, helping them keep the pounds they had worked so hard to gain.
“Jeremy, thankfully, had just done The Bear,” saying Iron Stone costar Stanley Simons. “So, we would go to restaurants and [the employees] he’d be like, ‘Oh my god, it’s Jeremy!’ and you bring out a cheap dish. We ate a lot. “
Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Stanley Simons, Cazzey Louis Cereghino, Grady Wilson, Lily James, Kevin Anton, Ryan Nemeth, and more join White, Dickinson, and Efron as cast members.
The Iron Stone they will hold their world premiere in Dallas, Texas, where the Von Erichs began their professional wrestling careers. Travis Hopson, JoBlo’s resident wrestling addict, will be in attendance.
The Iron Stone opens in theaters December 22, 2023.
