Jon Jones returns to the top

Jon Jones is back, and once again he has UFC gold around his waist.

At UFC 285, Jones made his heavyweight debut against Cyril Gane to compete for the vacant title. The fight didn’t make it out of the first round, as Jones finished Gane with a guillotine choke, leaving the heavyweight champion almost unscathed. Jones’ return also marks his return to the heavyweight division rankings and the top of the men’s pound-for-pound lists.

The co-main event of the Las Vegas pay-per-view caused a huge change in the women’s rankings. Alexa Grasso pulled off a stunning upset of Valentina Shevchenko to win the women’s flyweight title, making history as the first Mexican woman to retain UFC gold. Grasso’s win takes her to the top of the regional rankings, and into the top 10 of women’s pound-for-pound.
