New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson didn’t make much of an impact on the basketball court in the first two years of his high school career. It wasn’t until Robinson moved to Chalmette High School in Louisiana that he began to show his talent.

Butch Stockton was Robison’s coach at Chalmette, and the pair seem to have maintained a friendship over the years. On Thursday, Robison learned that Stockton’s wife, Dawn, died in September after 31 years of marriage.

Robinson then decided to have a heart transplant. He invited his former coach to move in with him in New York, so he wouldn’t have to be alone while he was grieving.
