An actor Lance Reddick The cause of death was reported to have been announced earlier this week, but now his lawyer is disputing how he died.
The Wire star death certificate, first published by TMZ early Thursday, listed his cause of death as ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
The actor’s lawyer says the cause of death is “completely inconsistent with his lifestyle”
However, Reddick’s attorney James Hornstein issued a statement to PEOPLE just hours after TMZ published the report. He claims that no autopsy was performed and “Lance’s lifetime medical examination did not indicate such conditions.”
“I have represented Lance Reddick for many years and I continue to represent his wife Stephanie. The coroner’s statement on the death certificate is not the result of an autopsy. An autopsy was not performed on Lance. To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime indicated such conditions,” the statement read.
Hornstein called Lance “the most physically fit person I’ve ever known” and added, “The information on his death certificate is completely inconsistent with his lifestyle.”

“Lance was the most physically fit person I ever knew,” Hornstein continued. “He exercised daily in his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and gym facilities were a contractual requirement for his work away from home. He ate as if a dietitian monitored every meal. The information appearing on the death certificate is to completely inconsistent with his lifestyle.”
Lance Reddick’s wife also disputes the actor’s credentials
The statement concluded:
“On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the information on the death certificate is unverified and inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”
Hornstein did not comment on whether Reddick, 60, will be fired, according to the TMZ report.

Reddick’s body was found inside his home on March 17, as previously reported The Shadow Room.

The actor’s representatives say he died “Of natural causes,” survived by his wife and two children
The actor’s representatives confirmed that he died “of natural causes” in a statement released after his death.
“Lance was best known for his roles in The Wire, Bosch, Netflix’s Resident Evil and the John Wick films,” the statement continued.
The statement said that “he is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick. Adding, “Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.”
At the time of his death, Reddick was scheduled to appear in several projects, including the White men can’t jump reboot, place of Zeus in 2024 Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thiefand the John Wick espionage Ballerina.
