Until recently, we hadn’t heard much about the film, except that Margot is producing. But director Jay Roach opened up a little more about the details of the film in an interview with Lindsey Bahr.
Roach says that the film is going to take place in 1962 Monte Carlo and, in departure from other Oceans films, featuring a love story as well as the heist that comprises the central plot.
“Margot pitched it to me as a kind of old-fashioned slash-adventure love story disguised as a heist,” Roach told Bahr. “It’s still a heist movie, but it’s a love story. “
Roach is perhaps best known for directing bomb, in which Margot also starred, as well as the Austin Powers movies.
We’re still not sure what the heist will be, of course, but Roach says the film will have “The Monaco Grand Prix” [as] the background, and there is a great famous shipman who has a yacht.”
The early grandchildren of Steven Soderbergh Ocean The trilogy, known for its almost all-male cast, didn’t feature much romance, and some fans speculate that Ocean a real need.
But I, for one, can’t wait to see Margot and Ryan running around Monaco and getting into trouble. Of the couple, Roach said “from the beginning there were some questions about whether it would be awkward.” [the two] together again afterwards Barbie. But I think there are just some couples that you want to see over and over again. It’s such a powerful, powerful duo, you know?”
It is not yet clear when the film might be released, but if it goes off the mark Barbie, hopefully we will see it in 2024.
