Melissa Barrera Fired From ‘Scream 7’ – Hollywood Life

Melissa Barrera was reportedly shot from the future Scream license fee, Scream VII, after sharing several social media posts about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The 33-year-old actress was let go from the project on November 21, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The outlet said one of Barrera’s Instagram Stories included a message saying, “Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. Joining everyone, no place to go, no electricity or water… People have learned nothing from our history. And just like our history, people are still silently watching everything happen. This is genocide & ethnic cleansing.”
Barrera was a star in 2022 Scream and 2023 Scream VI as the main character, Samantha Carpenter, along with a co-star and Wednesday actress, Jenna Ortega. Both sisters showed up and had to stop Ghostface in both movies.
Original franchise heroine Neve Campbell left Scream VI due to a salary dispute with the studio, Barrera and Ortega’s characters took the lead side by side Courteney Cox.
Barrera has not publicly responded to the news of her firing. The main company behind the horror franchise, Spyglass, has also not released a statement on the matter.
