Mo’Nique Apologizes To Oprah Winfrey And Tyler Perry
Mo’Nique on stage on Katt Williams’ ‘Dark Matter Tour’ this weekend to apologize Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
But that wasn’t exactly the kind of excuse they were hoping for.
Mo’Nique fires back for her comments about Oprah and Tyler Perry
On Saturday (February 10), Mo’Nique performed her comedy set in Albany, New York, when she took a moment to address her critics.
From her interview onwards Shannon Sharpe‘Club Shay Shay’ dropped earlier this week, the ‘Precious’ star has been making headlines back. After she shared her honest thoughts about her feud with the likes of Perry and Winfrey, people like Mathis came forward and criticized Mo’Nique for her comments.
He believed that speaking her “truth” made the black community look bad.
Mo’Nique seemed to hear what Mathis had to say about her as she stood in front of the raucous crowd and announced her intention to apologize.
However, what followed was less of an apology and more of a statement of indifference. She said:
“I listened to Brother Greg Mathis. I heard you, brother Greg Mathis. I heard you, Stephen A. Smith. I want you all to understand something about me. When I’ve said something wrong, I’m ab*tch who’s going to say, ‘I’m sorry.’ I am ab*tch who owns what I said.”
She continued by explaining that things may have been misinterpreted in the past, so she wanted to set the record straight.
“I’m an ab*tch who’s going to walk in what the f**k told me. And I apologize to two mothers-in-law because I told them that some years ago they were not wrong.”
Mo’Nique’s Unconventional Way to Apologize
That’s when Mo’Nique spoke to Perry and Winfrey, saying:
“Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, I want to apologize for telling you to pull my d**ka because I forgot to tell you to lick the nuts that came with them.”
The crowd erupted in applause, apparently enjoying Mo’Nique’s bold words.
Her “apology” is just the latest in a string of public controversies she’s had with big names in Hollywood.
Despite her success, Mo’Nique’s relationship with Hollywood has been tumultuous. She has publicly criticized several industry players for what she sees as unfair treatment of her.
The actress explained her complaints on ‘Club Shay Shay’ and emphasized why it was important to speak out against the people she believed had wronged her.
But just days after the interview aired and went viral on social media, Mathis decided to weigh in on his thoughts on the situation.

Speaking about the debate on Friday (February 9), Mathis took to Instagram to refute the comedian’s comments about her peers in the industry.
“Stop going after each other in public like this. You are insulting yourself, [and] you are bringing shame to our community,” he said in a recorded video.
“I know a lot of times you have to defend yourself about what’s being said, but why can’t we do it directly? And I just want you to know, I believe that the major studios are making fun of us and their executives seeing us, Black people, in public, going at each other.”
Neither Winfrey nor Tyler has commented on Mo’Nique’s apology so far.
