A British mother explained that she left her daughter in economy with her boyfriend while sitting in business class and wondered if she was “terrible” to do so.

The woman escaped to business class for the 11-hour flight from Paris to Los Angeles while her 11-month-old baby and her boyfriend sat in coach, according to her TikTok video reporting on the flight.

“Am I terrible for leaving them both in economy?” Ellis Cochlin’s mother wrote in the caption of her video detailing the flight.

“It was my only chance to fly without a baby and I took it, what would you do?” she asked her 22.5K followers.

“Thinking about a flight without a baby was like music to my ears,” she said in the video. “I love that girl with all my heart but let me tell you, it’s not easy flying long distances alone with a baby.”

“You’ve spent so much time handling a baby on your own, I feel like you’ve definitely earned this!” TikTok creator aliceisgratified wrote on the video.

“A bit strange though [to each their] himself,” said one user.

“A little weird how?” asked Cochlin.

“You don’t want to sit with YOUR family,” another user responded.

“Don’t feel guilty!!!!!! We mamas just want to breathe [sic] alone sometimes,” one user posted in support of her conclusion.

Cochlin explained that she felt like she was treating herself because this was the first time she wasn’t traveling alone with her daughter, Prim.

“I had never flown with anyone else, it was just me and Prim,” she said. “So the thought of getting help on this flight was amazing.”

Cochlin has recorded her flights with her daughter in previous videos, where she explained the difficulties of traveling alone with a baby. She also explained that the airline wanted to charge them thousands of dollars for her daughter to have her own seat despite the fact that she can fly for free in economy. In addition, she justified the decision because she said that her boyfriend, Rob, had never flown with her and that she wanted to do so.
