On Thursday night, Nottingham Forest agreed a deal with Serie A outfit Atalanta to make Remo Freiller part of their 14-man squad.Th New arrivals since securing their long-awaited return to the Premier League in May (The Guardian).

Signatures 15 and 16, it seems, won’t be far behind either.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest are also on the verge of confirming Emmanuel Denis. The tricky Watford forward – a bright spark in a disappointing season for the Hornets – will replace Taiwo Awoni as Forest’s record signing, joining for £20million.

A further £3.5 million, meanwhile, could be invested in Bordeaux’s Hwang Ui Jo. A cut-price bid has been accepted by the cash-strapped The Girondins, according to L’Equipe. From Andrea Pinamonti to Sassuolo, Hwang – who, like Denis, produced an impressive number of goals for the exiled club in 2021/22 – will instead arrive to provide competition for Awoniyi at the City Ground.

Three more faces at Nottingham Forest?

The question is, how do these three new faces click in the Nottingham Forest XI?

Well, it’s easy to see where Hwang fits. A hard-working number nine and a ruthless finisher in and around the penalty area, he is almost certain to be used in Steve Cooper’s centre-forward role. However, it is somewhat difficult to determine the position of Freuler.

The highly-experienced, highly-intelligent Switzerland international was the glue that held Gian Piero Gasperini’s free-flowing Atalanta side together. Conductor of the most energetic rock opera of Italian football. But the 30-year-old Freuler also thrived as a right-footed left-back at times. Either way, he looks perfectly suited to Cooper’s 3-5-2 formation; Whether playing wide or in the middle of the park.

“Früller had this opportunity, (and) it came true in a short amount of time,” Atlanta coach Gian Pieri Gasperini said in his Friday press conference.

“Now he’s gone to the Premier League. Obviously, he’s a player I admire a lot. If he’s happy with (his Forest switch), I thank him for what he’s done in an Atalanta shirt and wish him the best.”

Versatility is the key word in the city arena

Emmanuel Denis is another player who is equally comfortable in the two positions. He scored 10 goals and set up a further six in Watford colours, seeing his time in centre-forward roles and on the left to sometimes devastating effect.

While Cooper doesn’t seem inclined to play with inverted wingers at Forest – he has plenty of width behind his wings – Dennis will have to play a bit of a role in the role he occupies at Vicarage Road.

Either way, a versatile attacker with a proven track record in the Premier League can be very useful; Providing serious competition for marquee signing Jesse Lingard and last term’s star man Brennan Johnson. Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu and Nantes’ Moses Simon are also options.

Another left back?

While Freuler can Play on the flanks – as do Jack Colback, Harry Toffolo and the currently injured Omar Richards – Nottingham Forest are pushing hard for Second The player on the left before the window closed on September 1St.

Alex Moreno rejected Forest’s advances in favor of staying at Real Betis in La Liga. According to FootMercato, talks are now underway with Villarreal’s Pervis Estupinan. Meanwhile the Daily Mail claim Chelsea’s £18million forgotten man Emerson Palmieri is another name on Nottingham Forest’s long wishlist.

However, Italy is not the most swashbuckling of international players; At least compared to buccaneering Moreno. In 71 Premier League games at Chelsea, he has just two goals and five assists.

Then again, his vast experience at the top level could still come in handy. In particular, neither Toffolo nor Richards have played in England’s first division before and it may take some time for them to get used to the pace and intensity of the league.

Six players made their Premier League bows for Nottingham Forest in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United. By September, the number of debutants at the City Ground could rise exponentially.
