Returning to Captain America ‘Doesn’t feel right’ right now
Chris Evans is best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and although he has stepped away from playing the character, Evans recently said that there could be more stories there to tell.
During a recent appearance at C2E2 2023, Evans asked if he could return as Captain America if he could, after that version of the character retires at the end of 2019. Avengers: Endgame. Evans said he believes there are more stories about Steve Rogers to tell, but admits he is “precious” about going back.
“God, it’s hard. Look, I really love that role, it means so much to me. Do I think there are more Steve Rogers stories to tell? Yeah, but at the same time, I’m very precious about it,” Evans said (via The Pop Verse), while also noting that accepting the role of Captain America was “the best decision of my life life.”
Despite acknowledging that there are more stories to tell, Evans went on to say that it “doesn’t feel right, right now” to jump back into the character today. Rumors about Evans returning to the role have been swirling for years, but so far, it seems Evans is happy to leave the role.
His last appearance came in Avengers: Endgame, where after helping the Avengers defeat Thanos, Rogers went back in time to return the Infinity Stones they had taken from another world. Instead of returning, however, he stayed back in time, choosing to live out his life with Peggy Carter and appearing as a much older man at the end of the film.
