Sadie Sink the whale tries to save her lover’s soul in Geremy Jasper O’Dessa’s post-apocalyptic rock opera.

Stranger Things and The Whale star Sadie Sink is wasting no time planning her next acting gig. According to Deadline, Sink will star in Searchlight’s From the South, a post-apocalyptic rock opera by Geremy Jasper. The Cake Patti$ the director writes and directs the project and writes and produces the songs with Jason Binnick.

Jasper From the South revolves around a farm girl on an epic quest to reclaim a cherished inheritance. The odyssey takes her into the heart of a strange and ruthless city, where she falls in love. However, in order to save her lover’s soul, she must overcome the limitations of poem and song.

Michael Gottwald will produce through the Motion Picture Department with Noah Stahl and Rodrigo Teixeira for RT Features. Jonathan Montepare, Dan Janvey, and Lourenço Sant’Anna produce, produce From the South something a Cake Patti$ meeting

“We are so excited to be collaborating with Geremy again,” said Searchlight CEOs Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum. “With from the South, it brings incredible and visual energy to a whole new cinematic landscape.”

From the South this is Sink’s first project since she stole a scene in Darren Aronofsky The Whale. In The Whale, Sink plays Ellie, the teenage daughter of an overweight father looking for redemption. Sink was nominated for the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor/Young Actor for her powerful performance, though she lost to Gabriel LaBelle from Steve Speilberg’s The Fabelmans. She was also the lead in Taylor Swift’s short All Too Good: The Short Film.

Sink shoots her for From the South this May in Croatia before returning to Upside-Down for the fifth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Fortunately, Jasper is able to make a musical drama after his direction Cake Patti$ for Fox Searchlight Pictures. In Cake Patti$, up-and-coming rapper, Patricia Dombrowski, aka Killa P, aka Patti Cake$, fights an unlikely quest for glory in her hometown of New Jersey. Curtis Hanson and Eminem 8 miles fans might like it Cake Patti$ as he explores the realm of home brew rap with an underdog edge. Danielle MacDonald is outstanding in the lead role, with Bridget Everett and Mamoudou Athie delivering excellent performances.
