Congratulations! Palacios Sheynnis was crowned Miss Universe 2023 on Saturday, November 18, making her the first Nicaraguan woman to win the prestigious title.
The 23-year-old beat out more than 83 other candidates at the 72nd annual beauty pageant, which took place in San Salvador, El Salvador. Miss Thailand Antonia Porsild he was crowned second.

She loves her homeland
Sheynnis is from Managua, Nicaragua, and she often shares photos and videos through Instagram that show her connection with people across the country. A few hours before the final, she wrote a heartfelt message to the place that has been built over the years.
“My beautiful country, thank you for allowing me to be an ambassador of your culture, your landscapes, our identity and our colonial beauty,” she wrote via Instagram. “My Nicaragua, [it] it will be an honor to scream one more night of your name and prove to the universe that the countryside may be small but we are full of big dreams. “
She is a TV host
On February 6, Sheynnis admitted that she was “excited and grateful” to be the morning host. Al Godcalling her new gig “a gift from heaven.”
“I was commenting today that if I could talk to little Sheynnis, 5 years old, I would not believe that I would be working with big screen characters in the future,” she said via Instagram. Great characters that I watched every morning and they were special role models for me.”
She is a Mental Health Advocate
“Her cause this year is mental health, which comes from her own experiences with anxiety,” Sheynnis’ Miss Universe bio reads. “Coming from a country where this issue is rarely addressed, she started an accessible campaign called ‘Understand Your Mind,’ in which she interviews an expert on emotional care in the its television divisions. She has also produced other audiovisual events and projects on this subject. Her goal in life is to work in the service of humanity, by running a newsroom and producing content and advertisements for international brands.”
She is a college graduate
The model graduated with a degree in mass communication from the Universidad Centroamericana in May 2022.
She is a dog
She loves her puppies! She shared photos of Bruce and Baloo attending their “doggy first birthday” party in February.
