Smile 2 adds Dylan Gelula to the cast
Dylan Gelula from Kimmy Schmidt and Unbroken Dream Scenario has been cast in Smile 2, which hits theaters later this year
Dylan Gelula is perhaps best known for playing the role of Xanthippe Voorhees in 13 episodes of the Netflix series Unbreakable Kimy Schmidt… A dream story, where her character has a very memorable interaction with Cage. Since Gelula’s part of the film is also the part that sticks with me more than any other, I’m happy to hear (via Deadline) that she’s been cast in writer/director Parker Finn’s sequel to the film his terrible 2022. Smile (read our review HERE, watch the film HERE) – a project we are referring to Smile 2 until we hear otherwise. The film aims to October 18, 2024 theatrical release date, so they need to get this one into production very soon.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Gelula is joining a cast that already includes Naomi Scott from Aladdin and Charles’s AngelsLucas Gage of The White Lotus and You areRosemarie DeWitt of The Land and the Poltergeist remake, and Kyle Gallner (Red State), reprising the role he played in the first film.
Smile based on Finn’s short film Laura hasn’t slept (see HERE), which won the Special Jury Recognition Award in the SXSW Midnight Short category. Caitlin Stasey (Neighbors) played the title character in that short, and reprises the role in it Smilemaking it a type of lean. Smile it has the following summary: After witnessing a strange, traumatic event involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) begins to experience frightening events that she cannot explain. As a great horror begins to take over her life, Rose must confront her past in order to survive and escape from her terrifying new reality..
The cast was joined by Sosie Bacon, Kal Penn, Kyle Gallner, Jessie T. Usher, Rob Morgan, Judy Reyes, and Gillian Zinser.
Smile produced by Temple Hill, and they do Smile 2 Apart from.
Finn has said before that he feels there is a lot of interesting material left to explore in the world of Smile. “I would never want to repeat myself or go back on the same ground. I would like to make sure that there is a new, interesting, new track that the audience is not expecting. I also want to find new ways to scare them and make them go away. But as for how it might connect to the first one, I would like that to be a surprise as well.“
