Snoop Dogg takes to social media with a message

On Thursday, November 16, Snoop Dogg took to his official social media channels to share a short photo message with fans. The 52-year-old rapper shared an image of himself holding his hands in a prayer pose. In addition, there were a few words in the image.

“After much consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to quit smoking,” the photo read. “Please respect my privacy at this time.”

The rapper’s signature appeared below the blurb.

In addition, the father of four also shared a short caption with his photo post.

“I’m blowing smoke.”

To note, Snoop Dogg’s public persona has been associated with his devotion to marijuana. In 2013, the rapper detailed his ability to smoke “81 blunts” a day.

Social media responses

Social media users immediately took to The Shade Room’s comment section to share their thoughts on the rapper’s statement. Some jokingly compared the rapper’s words to a eulogy.

Instagram user @tynicolle said, “‘Respect my privacy'” how the weed died 😂”

While Instagram user @no_manners added, “Respect my privacy = I’m tired as hell”

Instagram user @uknow23k said, “…releasing like a family member just passed 😭”

Meanwhile, others seemed skeptical about naming Snoop Dogg.

Instagram user @jaybchillinbruh wrote, “Maybe it means ‘smoke’ as in beef. Because it didn’t say “smoking.”

While Instagram user @poppitforpimpp asked, “What if ‘Smoke’ is the family pet, named ‘Smoke’ and doesn’t refer to weed 😂 What if?

Instagram user @doublemintlounge said loudly, “Well he didn’t say smoke-ING so wait for the part ✌🏾”

His Son Cordell Broadus may be involved in Snoop Dogg’s efforts

At this time, it is unclear if Snoop Dogg was actually referring to quitting smoking marijuana in his latest social media posts. However, the second eldest son of the rapper, Cordell Broadus, seems to support his father’s announcement and may even join him in his decision.

Earlier today, Broadus took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he and his father “have been talking for a long time” and that “he will take it day by day”. Additionally, the tweet contained smoke emojis.

Broadus even posted his father’s statement on Instagram with the caption, “I stand with you Dogg I give smoke 2.”

To note, Broadus’ post was also reposted by his mother and Snoop Dogg’s wife, Shante Broadus, on her Instagram story.
