Two women’s bands are empowering themselves throughout the Arab world, Naya from Jordan and The Lady’s Drum in Egypt.
There have been very few women’s music groups in the Arab world – until now.
Jordanian band Naya and Egyptian group The Lady’s Drum are among those making a name for themselves and playing to a large, new audience.
We go back on stage with both groups – sharing the pain of long rehearsals and separate bus journeys, and the joys and fears of live shows and life on get off the stage and the attention.
We see how the women balance their musical careers with the pressures of motherhood – and how the men in their lives encourage them to break down traditional barriers to female musical power in the Middle East.
