Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces advanced 110 kilometers in 5 days of counteroffensive in Kharkiv region.

“Almost the entire region has been evacuated today. This was an unprecedented step by our warriors. Ukrainians have again done what many thought was impossible. On the first day of active operations alone, our troops advanced 19 kilometers. We traveled 110 km in 5 days with fights. In total, almost 400 settlements have been evacuated and the 150,000 Ukrainians who remained in the region now feel a normal and safe life,” he said in his video message.

Zelensky thanked everyone who skillfully “turned the terror of residents into a real frenzy.”

“I thank everyone who planned and successfully carried out the military operation to liberate Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian flag will return to all parts of our state. As well as in the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian soldiers will be found in the Donbass, in the south and in Crimea. This will happen. It will be necessary,” he stressed.

On September 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the city of Izum in Kharkiv Region, where the Ukrainian flag was raised that day.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that in one week the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to liberate about 8,500 square kilometers of Kharkiv region.

On September 14, ISW noted in its daily report that the Kremlin had conceded defeat in the Kharkiv region, marking the first defeat Russia has conceded in its full-scale war against Ukraine. By doing so, according to ISW, the Kremlin is trying to deflect criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin and blame military advisers. The Russian military called its withdrawal a “reorganization”.
