The cast of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ opens up about big changes in season 2
Grab your beach bags, sunscreen and lots of clothes because it’s time to head back to Cousins Beach to enjoy the first of The Summer I Turned Beautifuland the second season. The story continues in just over a week, and while we can’t wait to find out where we left off with the Conklin and Fisher families, audiences everywhere understand that there is a lot of heartache on the horizon.
Of course, there have been so many changes that some of what we see will be unrecognizable, but Conrad (Chris Briney), Belly (Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Steven (Sean Kaufman) are ‘ bridging the gap between the known and the unknown, giving us the stories we know and love.
Before the new events, the team opens up about some of what we will see soon and, in turn, prepares us for what is to come. Sean Kaufman tells ABC’s GMA that this season is going to be a reunion:
“It’s a season for them to come together. A lot happens between the seasons where they have to turn to each other, I think in a way that very few people understand. And that often turns into fights or arguments or whatever, but at the end of the day, they realize that somehow they have to be with each other and be there for each other in a way that not many people can be another.”
The way they come together is only possible because of their closely intertwined histories and how their lives as they know them have ceased to be influenced by each other. Does that mean things will be easy as they navigate the roughest waters they’ve ever been in? No, of course, but it means that they will always find their way back to each other; they take him home.
Some of the ways they find common ground will be easier than others, and Jeremiah and Conrad may have been keeping secrets in season one, but they’re all out in the open when the second quarter around. Briney describes it as the need to be honest.
“There is a lot going on between them. Conrad doesn’t know that Jeremiah and Belly kissed and Jeremiah doesn’t know that their mother has cancer. And there’s a lot like that that’s just not on the table, and then by the second season, it’s all. It was really interesting to be able to play a relationship where they have two choices: you talk about it or you don’t. There is no hiding, no artificial trappings. They had to be honest with each other.”
Tung explains that all the characters have grown a lot and her relationships with her family, boys, and friends are evolving as we welcome her into the next chapter of her life, but more importantly , Belly is “rediscovering herself and her confidence. , and rebuild as such.”
Finding herself again and rebuilding all her relationships is the most important thing for Belly, and we can’t wait to see how they all find their way back to each other again and, hopefully , singing the praises of Belly and Conrad reproducing. their romance, it’s Team Conrad or bust around here.
The second season of The Summer I Turned Beautiful begins streaming on Prime Video on July 14, and the first episode is called “Love Lost,” so be prepared to shed a few tears.
