The Greenbrier to host the Radford-Marshall ring rivalry on November 10

August 10 – WHITE SULFUR SPRINGS – Intersport and The Greenbrier announced a long-term partnership with Intersport that will bring a major college basketball multi-team event to the mountain resort destination each year.

The relationship begins this season when Radford and Marshall meet in a one-on-one competition at the resort on November 10 and continues in 2024 and beyond with the creation of an early season competition.

Colonial Hall within the resort, at more than 16,000 square feet, will be the playing area at the Greenbrier Resort, marking another unique tournament venue in which Intersport has hosted basketball events.

In the past year alone, Intersport has hosted major baseball events on the indoor field at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, Bayou Music Center in downtown Houston as part of an end- college basketball national championship week and North Island on the Chicago lakefront for the 2022. UA Next Elite 24. This is the first college basketball event to be held at The Greenbrier, which has held a “Battle for the Springhouse” school for the past two years.

Over the years, the Greenbrier has consistently seen must-see sporting events that have made the resort a popular destination for sports fans. The resort was a regular stop on the PGA Tour from 2010 to 2019, hosted the 1979 Ryder Cup, the first to match the United States against Europe, and the 1994 Solheim Cup. In tennis , stars like Serena and Venus Williams, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Martina Hingis have all participated in exhibition events at The Greenbrier, and Colonial Hall has even hosted elite boxing events with Evander Holyfield.

The Greenbrier recently hosted the Cleveland Browns for parts of their 2023 training camp and LIV Golf hosted an event at the resort last weekend.

After launching the Fort Myers Tip-Off in 2018, its first early-season college basketball tournament, Intersport has announced plans to host at least seven events throughout the college basketball offseason. 2023-24 conference, including the Cactus and Desert divisions. of the Arizona Tip-Off (November 17-19), the Beach and Palms divisions of the Fort Myers Tip-Off (November 20-22), the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off (November 23-25), the CBS Sports Classic (Dec. 16) and the Ohio State-West Virginia neutral site contest in Cleveland (Dec. 30), with additional events to be announced throughout the summer.
