Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance is totally on. However, there was a time when the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs just wanted to meet the singer, and he now reveals the chain of events that led to the first date.
The article also describes how Travis went from unsuccessfully trying to meet Taylor at a concert this summer to their first date in New York.
“There were definitely people she knew who knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: Yes! Did you know it was coming? I had someone playing Cupid,” he said, although Travis apparently didn’t realize until later that someone was sending him to Taylor.
That realization only came after Swift contacted Travis. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I was lucky enough to get her to find out,” he said.
When Taylor specifically attended Travis and the Chiefs’ Sept. 24 game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Travis says her family members in attendance may have also helped his cause. to go on a date with her.
“She might hate me for saying this, but… when she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures… in front of my locker clothes,” Travis told WSJ.
However, he would not give details to the publication about the extent of his and Taylor’s first date. “When I met her in New York, we had already been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there that,” he said.
Much has come of that dinner as Taylor and Travis have been seen together several times in the past two months, and Taylor has attended several Chiefs games. She was recently spotted at Travis’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Kansas City on October 2.
As for what Travis thinks about their relationship now, he mentioned a general appreciation for their family.
“Everybody knows I’m a family man,” he told the publication. “Her team is her family. Her family does a lot of things in terms of the tour, marketing, being around, so I think she has a lot of those values as well, which are right up my alley.”
