UFC Fight Night 224 winner Mackenzie Dern says Rose Namajunas fight is ‘priority’
LAS VEGAS – Rose Namajunas is MacKenzie Dern’s No. 1 choice after UFC Fight Night 224.
Dern (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) scored a major decision win over Angela Hill in Saturday’s strawweight main event at the UFC Apex. She called out Namajunas (11-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) in her Octagon interview after the fight with Michael Bisping.
Dern says that she would like to have a former champion with her when she starts again, and she thinks that their ground games would fit well together. Dern earned her third degree jiu-jitsu black belt after defeating Hill.
“I follow her on social media as well and I think she liked a regional ADCC or something like that,” Dern told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a press conference following the UFC Fight Night 224 event .“I mean I’m a former ADCC champion, so for me, I’m always happy when I see MMA girls doing jiu-jitsu and things like that.
“So, fighting Rose is definitely my priority right now. I think it would be a great fight, a good main event, and a good test for both of us. So, when I see her training her jiu-jitsu, I’m like it’s not going to be an easy fight, but I think it could be a big fight for the public and for us.”
