One of the main Russian war generals has visited the territory of eastern Ukraine for the first time this year.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who has been coordinating the war effort since the attack last February, was filmed visiting the eastern regions of Ukraine.
In a statement published on Telegram, the country’s defense ministry said that Shoigu “inspected the forward command post of one of the formations in the eastern military district in the direction of South Donetsk”.
In a video released by the ministry, Shoigu is seen giving medals to Russian soldiers and touring the ruins of a village with the head of the region, Colonel General Rustam Muradov.
Top Russian military commanders have visited the front line in Ukraine only recently since Russia invaded the country a year ago.
