Vin Diesel says ‘Fast X’ may be the first of three final films
When Universal announced the tenth Fast and Furious – which is now called Fast X – was intended to be the first part of a two-part finale to the entire franchise. Fast X now ready for the first look, while Fast and furious 11 (Quick XI?) still on track to follow in a couple of years. But maybe that’s not the end after all?
Fast X just at its world premiere in Rome, and on the red carpet, series star and producer Vin Diesel said that Universal now wants three final films instead of two. “Going into this movie, the studio asked if it could be a two-parter,” explained the man known as Dominic Toretto. “After the studio saw this one they said, ‘ Could you do it Fast X the finale, a trilogy?'”

Turning a two-part ending into a three-part ending might not have been easy if the writers had carefully planned their decision with two films in mind. However, this is not a terrible development. You have to think as long as these movies continue to make around $1 billion each time – the last movie, F9: The Fast Saga$726 million worldwide – Universal is going to at least entertain the idea of continuing the franchise.
in terms of Fast 11Universal is already set Fast X director Louis Leterrier to return to direct that series as well. Leterrier was a last-minute replacement for longtime filmmaker Justin Lin to direct F9 and he was directed Fast X too, but dropped out of the film shortly after production began.
Fast X opens in theaters next Friday. Fast 11 currently scheduled for summer 2025.
