The Boston Celtics traded Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team sign-and-trade deal that returned a second-round draft pick and a traded player exception (TPE) that upset some fans. The Celtics have changed their starting lineup as a result of that and the Marcus Smart trade and lowered the floor while raising the ceiling.
They now have a seven-man rotation with injury concerns in the frontcourt rotation as well as 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. The team has changed its defensive identity and made some questionable schedule management decisions, at least in the eyes of some.
