“You are our last hope” Nigerians call on South African Super Eagles to beat Davido, Burna Boy, Asake and Olamide over Grammy loss
To avenge Nigeria’s Grammy loss, the Super Eagles must defeat South Africa.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been urged to take revenge on the country’s Afrobeats musicians after a major Grammy a rejection that saw five West African contenders lose the award for Best African Music to South African pop sensation Tyla.
When the Grammy nominees were released months ago, six Nigerians were included in various categories, and the news was greeted with enthusiasm.
However, during Sunday night’s award show, West African Time, bubbles burst and sadness reigned supreme, as none of the Nigerian artistes nominated for different categories got the medal.
Previous winner Burna Boy lost four categories: Best World Music Album, Best African Music Performance, Best World Music Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Reeling from the disappointment of losing out to a continental rival, Nigerians have called on the Super Eagles, who are set to play Bafana Bafana in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday, to exact revenge.
